A youth empowerment program that uses the tenets of musical arts to re-shape the lives of young people located in San Diego's inner city. Urban All Star program is a multi-faceted program that combines academics, life learned lessons and music culture into one program. The program provides the inner city's youth with the skills needed to succeed in school, life and at the same time allowing them a way to express their creative side through musical arts. Music has always been extremely popular in the urban community and from that the Urban All Star program was born.


The All Star program's musical recording focuses on concentration, self-discipline and creativity. The young people first learn all about the history of music, then they learn to create their own. Organized music recitals and concerts, put together by the Urban Records staff, is a way to initiate community involvement, which provides positive socialization amongst the participants.

The Beginning

The All Star program began its conception in June 2004 when Mark Stone, founder and CEO of Urban Records expressed a desire to support and increase the musical awareness amongst the young people in the inner city. Mr. Stone would like to reshape the lives of children who are at risk of academic underachievement, teen pregnancy, substance abuse, and other adverse behavior. Mr. Stone's vision is an example of how a traditional and emerging entrepreneur can successfully initiate positive development of young people that are in dyer need.
  The Plan

Urban All Stars is a weekend program that will be offered at the "Urban Recordings", a professional recording studio used by the artist of Urban Records. Every Saturday morning the Urban Record staff will travel to the inner city to pick up the children and bring them to the recording studio where they will begin learning all about the recording process. While at the studio, the children will show weekly progress reports furnishing their academic progress in school. They will also be given classes on important topics that will help them in life such as credit reports, balancing a checkbook and applying for college.


The Outcome

With the parents and children's full participation, the All Star program will reshape their lives and give them the confidence and education needed to succeed in today's society.
